Digital Excellence Framework: A blueprint for IT Transformation Success

In my last post I asked the question "What does Digital Excellence mean to you?" Recognising this question may have been somewhat ambiguous, let me provide some additional context.

In that article I referenced our Digital Excellence Framework. The following is a high level view of that framework, to which I will discuss each of the different modules over the coming weeks - why they are there, how we conduct them, and what outcomes they deliver. Please also note that when we say "Digital" this can be used interchangeably with ICT and the like.

As you can see the first module is the Digital Excellence Assessment mentioned in my pervious blog, which we conduct as a series of interviews or surveys of representatives from management and staff, of all seniority, across our client's business.  Whilst the end purpose of this assessment is to determine a current state benchmark for our client, the first objective is to simply start the conversation about Digital Excellence by asking the participants a series of questions on the topic, such as “What does Digital Excellence mean to you?” and “Where have you seen this best practiced?”.

The survey concludes by asking participants to pick the top three "things" from the following list which are, in their opinion, the non negotiables for a robust Digital Excellence foundation.

So what three would you pick and why?

The key here is that there is no right or wrong answers. In fact, that is the very point about Digital Excellence. There are no silver bullets. This is why I get frustrated by organisations who think, by throwing a bunch of Agile Coaching or Design Thinking workshops at the workforce, everything will magically change.

This isn't to say I don't believe in Agile or Design Thinking. I do, and they form an important part of our Delivery Excellence Framework module. However, they are only part of a much larger and holistic approach that any organisation must adopt if they are to become truly Digital Excellent. And if you aren't already Digital Excellent, then you shouldn't attempt Digital Transformation. Excellence must come first.

I would love to know your thoughts and experiences, so please join the conversation by replying below.

Regards Graeme

P.S. If Digital Excellence is resonating with you and you would like to attend our private round table event, during which we will thoroughly explore the topic with some luminary industry leaders, all over some fine wines, please email me at graeme.armstrong@transfit.com.au
